Dining Hall

Fall 2023

This project transformed the cold and bare dining hall at Shrub Oaks (a school for children with autism) into a space where people with autism can thrive and find enjoyment. In this group project we dove into Magda Mostafa’s concepts and created a space that will excite the users while still allowing for important sight lines for safety. We created a soothing and inclusive dining environment by bringing the outdoors in through landscapes and nature, incorporating a layout of organic movement and flow, and utilizing curved seating arrangements and circular tables to enhance comfort and reduce sensory overload.
